We have been very excited in the last couple of weeks about the launch of our online shop! This was a huge step forward for us in working towards our mission at Psychustle. When Daniela and I started Psychustle, at the forefront of our inspiration was to make the lives of mental health professionals, such as ourselves, easier in any way we could. Both of us experienced significant challenges as we navigated the beginning of our careers pretty much blindly. We would often find ourselves jumping over hurdle after hurdle in order to get to the finish line (and we're still not there, but almost!)... We didn't have a lot of support outside of leadership at our respective universities and perhaps our internship supervisors (neither of which were reliable sources due to having other responsibilities, etc.). While jumping through hoops certainly built up our character, it would have definitely made it much easier and much more pleasant to have had more appropriate support in our journeys.
Our thought process when creating our first resource packet was similar... we wanted to launch something that would add value to our community and make therapists' lives easier. So we thought... at what point is a mental health professional probably feeling most vulnerable and overwhelmed? What is one of the most stressful parts of starting out in this career?
Imagine the stress of starting a career, starting a business, and developing all of the documents and assessments required legally and by insurance providers.... all simultaneously.
This is the moment I imagine most therapists need the most support. I can't imagine having to create assessment and consent forms while trying to juggle starting out in my career and starting a private practice. I can picture myself crawling into fetal position and having a good cry; who's with me?
So with this in mind, we created the therapist resource packet. We did our individual research on the stringent requirements of accreditors such as CARF and the Joint Commission to make sure we were covering all angles. We spent long nights putting together a FIFTY-SEVEN PAGE... yes, FIFTY-SEVEN-page packet.
It includes the following:
Consent Forms
Suicide Safety Plan
Crisis Hotlines
Assessments (Common, Evidence-Based Measurement Tools)
A completely proprietary Biopsychosocial
A Treatment Plan
A Progress Note Template
Mandatory Reporting Guidelines
All documents are easily fillable PDF forms but can also be printed for those of us who like writing out our docs by hand!
Basically, we provided you most of what a monthly subscription service would provide you, such as simple practice. But let's face it, when we get out of school in debt up to our eyeballs, the last thing we can afford is another monthly fee. So we priced it with this in mind and will be coming out with more affordable resources in the near future!
We made this packet together with so much love. We hope it shines through!
Your hustlers,
Daniela Marin, MS
