Hey! Welcome to the Hustle.
We're glad you found your way here.
So what is the Psychustle, you ask?
Psyc•hustle
/sīk-ˈhəsəl/
verb
-
The act of relentlessly and passionately pursuing a career in mental health, at times at the expense of one’s own mental health, but with the ultimate goal of making the world a better place.
Example: “Her psychustle is crazy inspiring! She’s changing lives!”
Now- being a Psychustler sounds awesome, but it doesn't come easy. Through school, internship, and as your career develops over the years, you will encounter numerous challenges and obstacles. But the impact you will make on the lives of others along the way will make every difficult moment worth it. As your fellow Psychustlers, we're here to share about our experiences and any wisdom we may have gained in the pursuit of our careers. We're here to support you, validate you, and share shortcuts and knowledge that will make your lives just that much easier. We're here to inspire you and keep you going during the tough times. And we're here to thank you! Mental health and social justice are in the spotlight now more than ever. Their importance cannot be underestimated. And you're at the center of positive change.
Our Mission:
1. To provide an easy, simplified guide to navigating the requirements to pursue a career in mental health/social work
2. To provide insight into the experience of being a mental health professional based on personal experience
3. To create a space to be vulnerable, down-to-earth, and honest about some of the challenges that mental health professionals face
4. To cultivate community and connections among open, determined, self-accepting Psychustlers
We hope our efforts will make the journey to change just a bit easier and more lighthearted. We're rooting for all of our fellow Psychustlers!
